A journey of a million miles starts with one step…
or in our case, one question: “Why?”

Here is why

Our youngest daughter, Eve, had been struggling with severe gut related issues. This was a result of extensive antibiotic treatments in the first year of her life, the time when a baby’s microbiome is populated and prepped for the rest of their lives.

In our search for answers, we stumbled upon the Magnesium Advocacy’s Root Cause Protocol (RCP), which was based on whole food supplementation and mineral balancing. To our surprise we were unable to find any local products meeting the criteria – purity and dosage. Importing it wasn’t a sustainable option, so we started procuring ingredients for a whole food Vitamin C from permaculture farmers in our immediate area, in the beautiful Garden Route. Next, we started sourcing free range grass-fed, hormone free beef liver, which was unexpectedly difficult, as most South African cattle end up at feedlots. Bee bread followed, and the range slowly grew.

Friends and family saw Eve’s health improve and soon we started sharing the wholesome goodness with others, and so Heart of Cultures was born. A name that Eve coined when we introduced a lot of ferments to her meals AND discussed the concept of nose to tail nutrition as practiced by our ancestral cultures.

Today we offer more than thirty hand-crafted products. We invite you to join us on a journey of reclaiming your health with our range of pure additive free supplements.
